Since the late 1800s, Japanese art has radically transformed with the wave of modernism, the impact of the two World Wars, and the rise of technology—yet it remains deeply rooted in tradition.
This workshop will focus on the history of art made in Japan from the 19th century to the present, and how the country’s transformations have manifested over time in the works produced by its artists, from Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige to Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama.
